Cycle cos from city participate in Gujarat Cycle Expo
Ludhiana: More than 50 bicycle and parts manufacturers from Ludhiana on Thursday reached Ahmedabad to participate in the Gujarat Cycle Expo. The reason for large participation of Ludhiana units in the expo is because of the slump being faced by them. Another motive of the bicycle industrialists is to meet their old buyers and convince them to increase rate of the bicycle in wake of the new load on manufacturers due to mandatory affixing of reflectors.
Giving more information, Gurmeet Singh Kular, who is leading the delegation of Ludhiana industrialists, said, “Today Jagdish Vishwakarma, industries minister of Gujarat, along with office bearers of the Federation of Industrial and Commercial Organisations (FICO) and United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA) inaugurated the Gujarat Cycle Expo in Ahmedabad. This expo is going to be a flagship event for the bicycle industry as 1,500 dealers from Gujarat & Maharashtra will visit this event. This is a golden opportunity for the cycle and cycle parts manufacturers of Ludhiana to get big orders that will give a push to the industry, which is facing wrath of severe recession.”
Satnam Singh Makkar, another bicycle industrialist who is participating in the expo, said, “Around 70 manufacturers of bicycle and parts from Ludhiana are participating in this expo where buyers from not only Gujarat, but from other states are expected to visit in large numbers. We are making every effort to convince dealers, buyers to cooperate with us in absorbing the hiked cost of the complete bicycle due to the new reflector law. We are hopeful that we will be able to book sizeable amount of orders and change the situation being faced by our industry back home in Ludhiana.”
