Ensure timely completion of projects: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar

PATNA: CM Nitish Kumar on Thursday asked the senior officials of the West Champaran district to personally take stock of the projects and schemes under implementation and also ensure their timely completion. Their review was done as part of his Samadhan Yatra started from Bettiah on Thursday.
Earlier, after West Champaran DM Anil Kumar made a detailed presentation on the present status of the projects and schemes under execution, public representatives from the district pointed to the problems pertaining to their constituencies and areas. In response, the CM asked the officials to take note of the problems referred by them and also find solution to them without fail.
With regard to the incentives meant for the girl students to pursue their higher education, the CM asked the officials to ensure that the money was released in time. Further, he also said the officials should see that food stuff are available at the residential schools meant for SC and ST students.
Earlier, the CM, ministers and officials made spot inspections of developmental activities in Daruabari village under Bagaha-2 block, besides personally looking into the erosion caused by Gandak river in Bagaha Nagar Parishad localities and also the anti-erosion work being done.
While the opposition parties in the state have been critical of the CM’s Samadhan Yatra and have been making rhetorical attacks on it, Nitish said he was not bothered by whatever they have been saying about it.
He said it was not the first time that he has been on such a yatra to assess the quantum of work done and progress made in the implementation of various projects and schemes, besides to ascertain the obstacles in the work being done. It was his 14th such yatra.
Later, the CM went around to see the erosion being caused by the river Gandak in the Parasnagar locality of Bagaha Nagar Parishad and sought details from the officials on the anti-erosion work being done in the Parasnagar, Anandnagar and Shastrinagar localities. He instructed the officials concerned to raise the height of the bund, besides asking them to do the anti-erosion work on a war footing and complete it in time to give people protection from flood and erosion.
The CM laid the foundation stone for the construction of community hall in Daruyabari village and work under the aegis of Integrated Tharuhat Development Authority. He distributed kits among beneficiaries under the livelihood project and also launched work under various schemes.
Nitish also saw the Nal-Jal-Yojana besides the beautification of pond in which he released fish. The CM interacted with girl students of the Ramabai Kishori Group formed under the Mahadalit Mission.
After having seen the exhibition on spinning of yarn and weaving of khadi clothes by weavers associated with a Gandhian body, Vishwa Manav Sewa Ashram, run by Dhatrighan Jha, the CM talked briefly about the significance of teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.
He also asked the officials to link the Sangini Jeewan Mahila Gram Sansthan with the self-help groups in other areas so that its members could get more work.
Among those who accompanied the CM were ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Sanjay Kumar Jha and Lalit Kumar Yadav (in-charge of the district), MP Sunil Kumar, MLA Virendra Singh alias Rinku Singh, MLCs Bhishm Sahani and Saurav Kumar, as well as his principal secretary Deepak Kumar and other senior officials.
