Kanpur: A man called his alleged paramour on the pretext of meeting her and then slashed the veins of her left hand. He then fled leaving her profusely bleeding on the highway in Jajmau area of the city late on Wednesday evening.
Some passers-by, who saw the woman lying in a pool of blood, alerted the police after which she was admitted to a nearby private hospital.
According to the sources, the husband of a 24-year-old woman, a resident of Jajmau, works in a sandal manufacturing factory in Mumbai. She lives with her two daughters at her in-laws house in Jajmau. The woman was allegedly having an affair with a resident of Tadbigya for some time.
The woman said that the man called her on the pretext of meeting on Wednesday late evening. The woman left the house saying that she was going to the market and went to meet her paramour in Jajmau.
The accused took her to near Jajmau checkpost on the highway and cut veins of her left hand with a sharp edged weapon and fled.
Jajmau police station in-charge Ashok Kumar Dubey said, “We are in the process of collecting information regarding her alleged paramour. Police force was sent to the spot. Further action will be taken on the basis of a complaint.”
