Jaipur shivers at 3.8 degree Celsius, cold wave to intensify further

JAIPUR: There was no respite from shivering cold conditions across the state for the fifth consecutive day on Thursday with majority of the places witnessing dip in minimum and maximum temperatures. Fatehpur in Sikar remained the coldest logging -1. 8 °C.

Jaipur Met office said there will be no respite from the shivering cold conditions in the next couple of days.
Attributing the continued dip in mercury to active northerly winds, weathermen said no respite from the chilly winds is expected in the next 48 hours as mercury will continue to take a dip across the state.
People in Jaipur woke up to coldest morning since 2017 as a minimum temperature of 3. 8 °C was recorded. The last time Jaipur recorded a minimum temperature of 3. 8°C was on January 11, 2017.
“For the fifth consecutive day, Jaipur witnessed continuous dip in mercury. From 8. 0°C, Jaipur has witnessed a dip of almost 5°C in the past five days,” said an officer with Jaipur Met office.
Roads wore an empty look during early morning and late evening hours. Also fogand mist affected traffic on highways connecting Jaipur to Ajmer, Jaipur to Delhi and Jaipur to Ajmer due to poor visibility. Even, in the city limits, people traveling on roads especially those going to office had a troublesome time due to poor visibility. “No respite is expected for Jaipur in the next 48 hours as there is a possibility that mercury may dip further,” said an officer with Jaipur Met office.
Anta in Baran recorded 1. 1°C, Alwar (1. 3°C), Bhilwara (1. 4°C), Pilani in Jhunjhunu (2°C), Bikaner (2. 4°C), Chittorgarh (3. 1°C) , Vanasthali in Tonk and Bundi recorded 3. 4°C each, Udaipur (3. 7°C), Kota (4°C), Jodhpur (6. 2°C),Barmer (6. 9°C) and Jaisalmer (7°C).
In its forecast, Jaipur Met office said there will be no respite from shivering cold conditions in the next couple of days as mercury will dip further.
