Cold wave persists but sun makes brief appearance

Ludhiana: Although the cold wave continued unabated in the city, residents received slight respite in the day as the sun made a brief appearance and raised the temperature a little. Maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded at 12 degrees Celsius while minimum temperature was recorded at 5.4 degrees Celsius. Fog is expected for the next few days.
Residents woke up to a cold and foggy day on Thursday, which made it difficult for commuters to travel. Meanwhile, the PAU weather department has advised people to stay alert as weather conditions were likely to remain the same due to snowfall in the mountains. Day temperature improved slightly but night temperature is still below normal.
Meanwhile, the civil surgeon issued a health advisory advising city residents to stay home unless urgent. Residents were warned about increased chances of diseases like flu, hypothermia and frostbite. Civil surgeon Hitinder Kaur asked people to keep an eye on the weather update and follow the instructions issued by health department.
