Drunk man beats puppy to death

Coimbatore: A 30-year-old drunk man killed a puppy at Somayampalayam village near Vadavalli here on Wednesday. CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral on social media. The Vadavalli police have begun an inquiry into the incident.
A police officer said the puppy, which was just two months old, belonged to N Sivakumar, 26, of Bharathi Park at Somayampalayam.
“On Wednesday around 5.45 pm, Sivakumar and his family members were busy at work and the puppy was roaming outside the house. When their neighbor B Senthil, 30, who was under the influence of alcohol, saw the puppy, he started chasing it. He threw a stone at it and then beat the puppy until it died. The incident was captured on a CCTV,” the officer said.
Sivakumar and his family members questioned Senthil, who verbally abused and threatened them with dire consequences. Sivakumar lodged a complaint with the Vadavalli police on Thursday.
Police subsequently visited Senthil’s house for an inquiry. “But he was under the influence of alcohol. So, we did not question him. We are planning to conduct an inquiry with him on Friday morning,” the officer said. tnn
