Coimbatore: The Pollachi all-woman police on Tuesday registered a case against a 25-year-old youth under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act for raping a 17-year-old girl.
Police said the girl, a Class-XII student, used to visit her grandmother’s house near Pollachi during holidays. The youth, a daily wage worker, was residing nearby. “The girl and the youth were seeing each other for more than one and a half years. The youth promised to marry her and raped her on multiple occasions in the past few months,” said a police officer.
On Monday, the youth went to see the girl at her house under the influence of alcohol. “The girl’s mother saw him and questioned the girl. The girl told her about their relationship.” Subsequently, the parents took the girl to the police station. Based on the girl’s complaint, police registered a case and formed a team to nab him. TNN
