Jaipur: A 24-year-old woman was killed after her relative strangulated her with a wire in Malviya Nagar on Monday night.
Police identified the victim as Chandani Meena. She worked as a sales executive at a mall in Jawahar Circle and had come to live with her son and parents at a rented accommodation in Malviya Nagar Sector-8 after the death of her husband about a year ago.
Police said that the accused Vijay Meena (28) is a relative of the victim and had been living in the same house for the past several months.
According to police, the accused had been trying to hang himself after strangulating Chandani before the woman’s parents broke the door and took him to the hospital.
Her parents told police that the incident resulted from a fight between them and the accused about 10 days ago. The parents said that Vijay lived with them, and they also arranged for his meals. The family had asked him to find a different accommodation.
The woman’s father Pappu Meena said that the family had stopped talking to Vijay after the fight and he also did not talk to them very much. Police said the accused killed the woman while everyone was away.
SHO (Jawhar Circle) Surendra Kumar Saini said that after the murder, the accused was also trying to hang himself before the girl’s parents saw him from the window.
The family broke the door to enter the room. The police said that the accused worked at a hospital near Jhalana Circle and had come to Jaipur about a few months ago.
The family said that Chandani’s husband had died about a year ago following which she moved to Jaipur. The woman’s father worked as a driver.
The family said that Chandani worked hard for her son’s education and decided to come to Jaipur to make a better future after her husband’s death.
Police also said that they will interrogate the accused after he is released from the hospital.
