Mangaluru: The bus yatra, a campaign tour by Congress leaders, as part of the upcoming assembly election, will reach the coastal city on January 22. The District Congress Committee (DCC) of Dakshina Kannada has held a preliminary meeting, to discuss the preparations made for a rally to be held in the city, as part of the party leaders’ bus yatra.
DCC president K Harish Kumar, chairing the meeting, said that AICC general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, opposition leader in legislative assembly Siddaramaiah, KPCC president D K Shivakumar, opposition leader in legislative council BK Hariprasad, KPCC publicity committee president MB Patil and KPCC working president Saleem Ahmed will take part in the statewide bus yatra campaign, that will reach Mangaluru.
He said that a public rally to be held at the Karavali Utsava grounds, is expected to attract more than 25,000 people, from various parts of the district.
Kumar also discussed the SC,ST convention to be organised by the Congress at Chitradurga on Sunday, and the ‘Na Nayaki’ drive to woo women voters in Karnataka, to be held at Bengaluru on Friday.
The DCC president appointed party leaders M Mahabala Marla, DK Ashok, Mohammed Kunjathbail, Sadashiva Shetty, Deepak Poojari, Udaya Achari and Dinesh Kumpala as district spokespersons. “They have to work for the party’s victory, under the guidance of the DCC office-bearers, MLAs and former MLAs,” Kumar said.
