Mysuru: KPCC spokesperson M Lakshmana on Tuesday claimed that BJP high command kept former CM B S Yediyurappa away from the party’s Jana Sankalpa Yatra at Mandya last week.
According to him, following a directive from the party’s top brass, the Union minister Prahlad Joshi conveyed the message to Yediyurappa to stay away from the convention. “BJP high command is sidelining Yediyurappa, who built the party in the state. The Lingayat community should understand this,” he said.
“The state government is trying to fool people by announcing reservation to Panchamasali sect among Lingayats and for Vokkaligas. It is merely a political gimmick as it does not hold any substance,” he told reporters. He contended that BJP’s gameplan is to ask some people to approach the court of law questioning the government’s decision about reservation to Panchamasali and Vokkaligas and get a stay and blame the Congress.
Lakshmana said the Congress will stage a protest against Rangayana and theatre troupe that staged ‘Sambashiva Prahasana’, which allegedly belittled Congress leaders, mainly Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar. He said right wing activists are misusing Rangayana to create tension in Mysuru. “Rangayana staged a play about Mysuru ruler Tipu Sultan earlier, which led to a controversy. Now, it has belittled Congress leaders. Mysuru MP Pratap Simha is promoting such activities,” he added.
