Kanpur: The SIT probing the anti-Sikh riots has arrested an accused in the triple murder case, from Ghaziabad. On Tuesday, the SIT produced him in the court. Later, he was sent to jail. The SIT has so far arrested a total of 43 accused and sent them to jail. “During investigation, it came to fore that one Anwar Ahmed, a resident of Ghatampur, was involved in the murders. At present, he is staying in Ghaziabad. The SIT arrested him on Monday after collecting evidence. He was sent to jail on Tuesday,” he said. SIT sources informed that Anwar’s wife is serving as a constable in the state police department. “Presently, she is posted in Jhansi,” sources added. According to the SIT official, Anwar had left the city after the riots. “He was living with his wife in the Jhansi Police Line. However, when he came to know that police were behind him after his name had cropped up during investigation, he escaped to Ghaziabad, where he was living in apartment with his son,” said official further.tnn
