GREATER NOIDA: Surajpur police on Tuesday arrested three persons who had held a security guard at gunpoint and fled with valuables worth Rs 12.2 lakh from an Amazon warehouse in Greater Noida two days ago.
The accused have been identified as 35-year-old Raj Kumar, a native of Auraiya in UP, 34-year-old Sachin Kumar and 30 -year-old Raja from Bulandshahr. Varun Gupta, a representative of the company, in the FIR said that the company has a warehouse/delivery station in Surajpur area. “On January 1 at 2.30am, three suspects on a motorcycle barged into the premises and held the security guard at gunpoint. They fled with a cash safe which had Rs 12.25 lakh,” he said.
A case was registered against unknown persons under Section 392 (robbery) of the IPC. Saad Miya Khan, additional DCP Noida Central, said police scanned the CCTV footage and identified the suspects. “The three people were arrested during a checking drive in Surajpur on Tuesday. During interrogation, they revealed that they had some loans to repay and hence they committed the crime,” he said.
The police recovered Rs 12.25 cash, a damaged safe, machines used to damage the safe, a country-made gun, five live cartridges, and one motorcycle from their possession.
Amazon officials reached the police station after the case was solved.
“We thank police for solving the case and recovering all the stolen valuables,” a spokesperson said.
