RANCHI: The state education department on Tuesday extended winter vacation in both government and private primary schools across the state till January 8 due to cold conditions.
A notification issued by the state department of school education and literacy said the primary classes (classes I to V) in both government and private schools shall remain closed till January 8. "During this time, the teachers will attend school to enter data online to update all student records," the notification read.
District education officer, Akash Pandey, said: "With the onset of a cold wave in the first week of January, the decision has been taken for the primary students. On January 9, the schools will reopen and regular classes will resume."
The Indian Metrological Department reports that the state's weather has remained dry for the past 24 hours. In many areas of the state, there was moderate to moderately dense fog. Tuesday saw maximum temperature of 25.4 Degrees Celsius in Chaibasa, while the lowest minimum temperature of 10.3 Degrees Celsius in Daltonganj. There will be fog or mist in the morning, followed by a partly cloudy sky and dry weather.
Ranchi will experience minimum temperature between 12 Degrees Celsius and 8 Degrees Celsius in the next four days. Palamu, Chatra, Garhwa and Latehar may record lowest temperature between 9 Degrees Celsius and 6 Degrees Celsius.
