Jaipur: Probably for the first time this season, dense fog and mist gripped the entire state on Tuesday morning. The visibility was just about 150 metres in Jaipur and other parts till 10.30am. Fog was not just the issue as shivering cold conditions in the morning hours added to the miseries of commuters. Many places witnessed minimum temperatures below normal. Fatehpur (Sikar) remained the coldest where a minimum temperature of -1°C was recorded, Met reports said.
Attributing shivering cold conditions and early morning fog to active northerly winds, weathermen said such conditions will continue for the next couple of days.
People in Jaipur woke up amidst dense fog with a minimum temperature of 5.3°C, the coldest morning of the season so far. Due to poor visibility, office goers had a troublesome time. Be it Sikar Road, SMS Highway, Tonk Road, Statue Circle, Jawahar Circle or Mansarover, bikers had a lot of difficulty.
With shivering cold conditions, footfall at city parks was low as morning walkers preferred to stay at home. Even in the evening, dense fog around Jaipur was witnessed.
Jaipur Met office said shivering cold conditions will continue in the city for the next couple of days.
Traffic on highways connecting Jaipur to Ajmer, Jaipur to Agra and Jaipur to Delhi was chaotic due to poor visibility during early morning and late evening hours.
Fatehpur was followed by Churu where a minimum temperature of -0.9°C, Sangaria in Hanumangarh (2.4°C), Pilani in Jhunjhunu (2.6°C), Sikar (3°C), Sriganganagar (3.7°C), Sirohi (4.3°C), Nagaur (4.5°C), Bhilwara (5.5°C), Bundi (6.6°C), Bikaner (6.9°C), Ajmer and Kota 7.3°C each, Alwar (7.5°C), Vanasthali in Tonk (7.8°C), Jodhpur (10.1°C) and Barmer (10.5°C).
In its forecast, Jaipur Met office said shivering cold conditions will continue in the state for the next 24 hours. Also, many places in northern and eastern parts will witness fog and mist during early morning hours.
