Prayagraj: Chief secretary Durga Shankar Mishra on Tuesday said all efforts were being made to ensure that upcoming Magh Mela is memorable for visitors.
“We are making elaborate arrangement for visitors and this Magh Mela is a rehearsal for Kumbh 2025 for the authorities,” he said while reviewing the preparations of the annual religious fair set to start from January 6 on the banks of Sangam. He added that Kumbh-2025 would be more grand and elegant in comparison to 2019 Kumbh. The chief secretary also anticipated footfall of 40 crore during the mega event and asked officials to prepare accordingly. Mishra further said: “This time, we have engaged youths, particularly college going students, to experience Sanatan tradition.”
Apart from inspecting bathing ghats, Mishra also interacted with devotees, pilgrims, seers and saints and enquired about the facilities being provided by the authorities.
The chief secretary also interacted with students of a private engineering college who have been appointed as volunteers during this Magh Mela. He asked them to serve the pilgrims with sense of service (sewa bhav). “We should serve the pilgrims with a sense of service so that we could leave an ever-lasting impression on their mind,” he said. He also distributed tracksuit among volunteers.
Mishra also praised the sanitation campaign on the mela campus and claimed that Magh Mela would be safe, secure and clean as per the wishes of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
