Police issue advisory on driving in fog

Jaipur: City traffic police on Tuesday issued an advisory for people to drive safely due to poor visibility caused by fog.
DCP (Traffic) Prahlad Krishnia said people should slow down their vehicles during foggy conditions and be very cautious while while overtaking. The guidelines also state that parking and fog lights should be turned on while navigating extreme foggy conditions.
Krishnia also said people should try to avoid driving in such difficult circumstances. Police advised people not to travel early morning or late at night when dense fogs make it difficult to drive. “Travel only when it is absolutely necessary,” said police guidelines.
“Another important thing to note is to maintain safe distance while driving in foggy conditions,” he said.
Police also said drivers should also keep a constant check over their rear view mirror while driving.
“The driver and passengers should wear seat belts and keep constant vigil over vehicle passing through link roads. It is also important not to park on flyovers and highways,” police said. Police said use of mobile phone while driving can also cause fatal accidents and should be avoided at all costs. TNN
