JDA told to identify spaces for parking lots in key areas of Jaipur

JAIPUR: During a recent meeting of the Urban Development and Housing (UDH) department, officials decided to build a few parking lots across the city.
While Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is all set to construct an underground parking lot at the Rambagh Golf Course for vehicles meant for the high court and adjacent areas, the civic agency has also been directed to augment the extension work at the present parking lot inside Ramniwas Bagh.
“JDA has been asked to identify spaces for parking lots on Tonk Road, Mansarovar, JLN Marg, Malviya Nagar and even at the upcoming Pratap Nagar areas of the city. The civic body would construct these parking lots and in future it would be handed over either to municipal corporations or to private parties for operations,” said a senior official who attended the meeting.
As per the immediate plan, JDA would construct an underground parking lots at the Golf Course. This would cater to a huge number of vehicles at the High Court and adjacent areas. Officials said this would reduce the parking problem in these localities – mostly commercial - to a great extent.
“In addition, JDA has been asked to complete the extension job for the parking facility as early as possible. Presently, this facility can accommodate 915 vehicles at a given time. Once extended, another 1,530 vehicles can be parked here at a given time. The deadline of this project is December 2023,” an official added.
There had been discussions on the present parking facility at Chaugan Stadium.
