Jaipur: With dense fog engulfing the city, Jaipur International Airport on Tuesday witnessed the lowest visibility of this season so far at 300m, officials said.
On Tuesday, four flights were diverted to Jaipur airport including two international chartered flights. Despite poor visibility, flight movement from the airport was not disrupted, said officials.
“The visibility had dropped to 300m for around 2 hours on Tuesday morning, the lowest of this season so far, but flight operations were not affected. The airport can function properly even at a visibility of 150m. No flights were delayed, however, some were diverted here because of poor visibility in other regions,” said an official from the airport.
In October, the Met had installed a runway visual range system at the airport. The system was installed at both ends and in the middle of the runway with the aim of improving visibility. The instrument works on forward scattering technique, the method of measuring visibility based on diffraction of light due to the presence of dust, pollution, smoke, water droplets in the air. TNN
