UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has shared a five-point plan with the nation for the new year. The leader, in the first major speech of the year, looked to curtail inflation, push the economy towards growth, bring down debt, reduce waiting lists, and keep a check on the boats.

With these five pledges, the PM looks to ‘build a better future’. In the latest speech, Sunak said that he is focusing on the ‘people’s priorities’.

The UK’s leader also promised to work ‘night and day’ for the betterment of the nation and its people.

Youngest PM with roots in India

At 42, Rishi Sunak became the youngest Prime Minister of Britain. Not only this, he will be the first British PM to have roots in India. Born in the country's Southampton area, Sunak is a third generation British-Indian whose grandparents were from Punjab.




In east London, the PM said that he wanted to make five promises to people, which may help in delivering peace of mind. These can be the five foundations to build a better future for the coming generations.

In the first, he looked to halve inflation this year to give people financial security and ease the cost of living. He also wanted the economy to grow in the second by coming up with better-paid jobs and right opportunities across the country.

The UK PM, in the third promise, also wanted to make sure the national debt falls to secure the future of public services.

The PM also wants to bring down the waiting lists of the NHS to ensure people get the care they need more quickly in the fourth pledge.

Sunak, in his fifth promise, also wants to pass new laws to stop small boats for making sure that the illegal immigrants are detained and swiftly removed.

The leader said that these are the priorities of the people and the government too.
