Prez calls to collectively work for constitutional morality
Jaipur: President Droupadi Murmu has stressed the need to work collectively for inculcating a sense of constitutional morality among the countrymen while inaugurating the Samvidhan (Constitution) Park Garden at Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday. She said, “The framers of the Constitution framed it on the principles of social, economic, political justice, liberty, equality and fraternity making it the largest and vibrant democracy.”
Describing the Constitution as a living document, she said, “It is fully capable of fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the changing masses over time. The provision of the Constitutional Amendment has also been included in the Constitution to make it adaptable for future generations. A total of 105 amendments have been made so far.”
Referring to the statement of Bhimrao Ambedkar, she said that no matter how good the Constitution is, if the people who believe in it are bad, then it will prove to be bad. On the other hand, if the people who believe in the Constitution are good, then it will prove to be good.”
Expressing a sense of relief, she said women in the country are continuously serving the nation and society with their presence from panchayat to Parliament. “There are 82 women members in Lok Sabha and 33 in Rajya Sabha. This is the first time that more than 100 women MPs are representing Parliament,” said the president.
Following the inaugural, she met with representatives of Sahariya and Kathori tribes to understand their lives, struggles and aspirations.
She told the representatives of the need to educate more girls which will give them opportunities to move forward in life.
Recognizing the contribution of the tribal in saving water, forest and land, she asked the representatives to work hard and motivate the younger generation. She briefly interacted with them on schemes implemented for the welfare of tribal communities run by both the state and central government. “Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana etc. She also directed Chief Secretary Usha Sharma and other officials present there to implement the schemes related to public welfare in tribal areas in practice.
Governor Kalraj Mishra, CM Ashok Gehlot, speaker of the assembly C P Joshi, many ministers, MPs and MLAs joined the programme.
