Three trucks fished out of Ganga, driver still missing

Dumka: Three lorries, which drowned in the Sobhanpur bank of Ganga river after falling from a freight vessel in Sahibganj district on Friday morning, were fished out on Monday evening, but the driver of one of the lorries is still missing and is feared dead. The other two lorries did not have driver. The district administration said that two more trucks laden with stone chips engaged by Dilip Buildcon to supply construction materials for the proposed bridge over Ganga between Sahibganj and Manihari, are believed to have been drowned. Sahibganj DC Ram Niwas Yadav said, “Three lorries have been fished out by the rescue team. We suspect two more lorries have drowned.” DBL authorities had reportedly claimed that six stone chips laden lorries were on board the freight vessel when the mishap occurred. The DC said that attempts are on to recover the missing driver and that the probe report ordered by him to ascertain the facts regarding the vessel mishap was awaited.
Govt awards 33 police personnel
Ranchi: The state government on Monday issued an order awarding 33 Jharkhand police personnel with various awards. Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Jharkhand Jaguar, Ganesh Chandra Pan, has been awarded Jharkhand Rajyapal Padak for distinguished services. ASI Rajiv Kumar Bhagat and ASI Divya Prakash of Latehar district police have been provided Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Padak for bravery. Thirty police personnel, including inspector general Asim Vikrant Minz, deputy inspector general Anish Gupta, and DSPs Raj Kumar Mehta, Deepak Kumar Sharma, Mukesh Kumar and Deepak Kumar Pandey have been given Jharkhand Police Padak for commendable services.

Ranchi: A massive fire broke out in a building of the Usha Martin Limited at Tatisilwayi in Ranchi on Monday morning. Five fire brigades of the state government and the company’s firemen jointly brought the flames under control. Police said that there was no casualty in the incident. The loss of valuables is yet to be officially known though it is said to be in crores.
