BJP ups its booth-level preparedness for polls in Karnataka
On Monday, CM Basavaraj Bommai formally launched Booth Vijaya Abhiyana in Shivajinagar, as part of the party’s public outreach campaigns at the booth level.
BENGALURU: Ahead of the April-May assembly elections, the BJP has stepped up efforts to improve its electoral performance.
On Monday, chief minister Basavaraj Bommai formally launched Booth Vijaya Abhiyana, the party’s new programme, in Shivajinagar, as part of the party’s public outreach campaigns at the booth level. The programme will be held until January 12.
Following its launch, Bommai stated that this new drive aims to reach its target of 130 seats or more.
After its success in UP and Gujarat, BJP has taken its election strategy to a micro-level — every booth manager has further divided each page of the electoral roll with him among eight to ten trusted party workers, who have been designated Page Pramukhs.
Bommai stated that it is critical that page committees be formed at the booth level by involving 20-25 key voters from each page in order to capture the imagination of the voters and disseminate information about the Centre and state government’s development efforts. “There are still many places to go,” he said.
Bommai asked the workers to host a meeting of 100 influential voters at the booth level and reach out to the people. The CM said BJP’s booth-level concentration also helps open a dialogue between the people and the party for a better understanding of what’s required.
‘No Hindu will work for Congress in Dakshina Kannada’
In Mangaluru, BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel, after launching the Booth Vijaya Abhiyana, said Congress won’t get a single Hindu in Dakshina Kannada to work for it at the booth level for the next assembly election. He predicted that BJP will win all eight seats in the district.
Anand Singh hints at early polls
Tourism minister Anand Singh hinted at the possibility of early polls in the state. “I have heard that election may be held in February last week or March first week,” he said. After inaugurating the Booth Vijaya campaign in Koppal, Singh said Amit Shah has given a call to win 150 seats in the state and party workers have to toil hard.
