Bhubaneswar: The state government has given an additional compensatory attempt to aspirants to appear for Odisha Civil Services Examination (OCSE)-2022. The candidates, who have appeared for OCSE-2019, OCSE-2020 and OCSE-2021, can appear for the OCSE-2022 irrespective of their maximum age limit or exhaustion of the attempts.
The general administration and public grievance department said this in a government resolution published on Monday.
On account of delay in conducting the civil services examination each year during the period 2011-2014 and after the introduction of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) pattern in the OCS examination, the state government had allowed additional compensatory attempts to appear for the OCS examinations from 2016 to 2021 irrespective of maximum age limit of the candidates.
Besides, the department had received many representations from civil service aspirants requesting the government to allow them additional chances to appear for the OCSE-2022 irrespective of their maximum age limit.
After careful consideration, the government took this decision to allow one more additional compensatory attempt to the aspirants to appear for OCSE-2022. No further additional compensatory attempt will be allowed in the future, said the official sources.
The government is also pleased to allow candidates to write the answer in Odia except in language papers in the OCS examinations for this year.
“The OCS examination process is getting delayed every year, that’s why we had requested the government to give us a compensatory attempt. We have been preparing for the examinations during the last few years, one more attempt may change the life of some aspirants,” said Sumanta Kumar Satapathy, civil service aspirant from Bhubaneswar.
