3-yr-old falls into well, dies after rescue

Panaji: Mapusa fire personnel rescued a three-year-old girl who had fallen into a well at Karaswada, Mapusa, on Monday evening.
After she was rescued, she was administered first aid and then shifted to the district hospital at Mapusa by 108 ambulance service. However, the child succumbed to her injuries late in the evening.
The girl was reportedly playing with some other children with a ball when it fell into the well. Sources said that she climbed over the well which was covered with a wire mesh. There was a small opening in the covering through which people would draw water. The child fell into the well through the gap around 7.35pm.
On getting the call, fire services personnel rushed to the site but it was too dark for them to locate her in the well.They couldn’t find her on the first attempt but kept looking. They pulled her out on their second attempt.
