Cop prevents woman from ending her life

Ludhiana: A traffic police personnel on Monday saved a woman from ending her life as she was about to jumping from Jagraon bridge due to her strained marriage life.
The woman of Islamganj area got married to a Haryana-based man. Her husband and in-laws used to harass and thrash her. Therefore, she decided to end her life.
Traffic cop Paramjit Singh, who was deputed on Jagraon bridge, said he saw a woman walking fast towards the bridge and falling down on the road in the process. He rushed towards her and asked if she was fine. The woman said that she wanted to jump off the bridge. The cop consoled her and called the division number 2 police.
Inspector Arshpreet Kaur, SHO, division number 2 police station, said the woman had come to the police station three days ago and had lodged a complaint. The matter is being investigated. “Today, she said that her husband had assaulted her and there was a minor injury on her hand. After getting a medical examination, action will be taken as per law,” the inspector said. tnn
