Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance had registered 285 cases against 544 people in 2022, out of which 60 were against Class-I officers, it was stated during a year-end review.
The vigilance statement revealed that of the 285 cases, 84 were that of disproportionate assets (DA) while 118 were trap and other corruption cases. Last year, the state vigilance had detected and registered the highest number of DA cases in the country and is hopeful of a similar performance this year as well.
“Of the 285 cases in 2022, 60 were registered against Class-I officers, which is the highest in the last 5 years. Besides, 84 cases were instituted for acquisition of disproportionate assets against 91 public servants and 56 private persons. The total disproportionate assets in all the 84 cases stood at Rs174.83 crore,” vigilance director Y K Jethwa said.
He said that 118 trap cases were instituted during the year against 126 public servants and 3 private individuals, including 12 Class-I officers for demanding and accepting bribes amounting to Rs 36.94 lakh. “The highest cash seizure in a trap case in the history of Odisha Vigilance also happened in 2022,” Jethwa said.
Besides, vigilance has also registered 83 cases relating to misappropriation of public money against 270 people, including 170 public servants and 100 private individuals.
