JAMMU: A local court in
Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Monday convicted a former terrorist of rape of a minor girl and sentenced him to eight years of imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs 50,000.
Kishtwar district and sessions judge Y P Kotwal sentenced the convict Bilal Mohammad, a resident of Sigdi-Chatroo in Kishtwar, six years after the case was registered.
In a written application at Chatroo PS, endorsed by the chief judicial magistrate of Kishtwar on December 8, 2016, the victim’s mother alleged that on December 4, 2016, she was away from home attending a relative’s wedding when Bilal barged into their house with arms and ammunition, abducted her minor daughter and robbed her daughter-in-law’s ornaments.
Bilal was arrested within days of the crime and the offence was proven against him.
