HYDERABAD: The man who drove his car over two pedestrians on Banjara Hills Road Number 3 early on Monday killing them on the spot, was drunk. Police officials said medical reports confirmed that the car's driver, Pranav K, had liquor in his blood stream.
Police booked both Pranav and his friend in the car, Sai Vardhan, for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. SI B Mahesh said they are students of Manipal University and were returning home after a New Year party. They lost control of the car on the Banjara Hills stretch, causing the accident.
Driver’s BAC was 140mg/100mlA Sinu, 50, a painter from Kondapur, and Beemavaram Eshwari, 55, a helper in a hospital, were walking on the road at around 5.30 am on New Year’s day when the car hit them near Royal Tiffins. The out-of-control vehicle then hit two more parked cars near the eatery before coming to a halt.
The complaint was registered by Sinu’s wife, Sita, who had alleged that the two accused were drunk. “It is confirmed that the two accused were drunk. But I am yet to verify the blood alcohol count of Sai, while Pranav’s Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) was 140mg/ 100ml’‘ Banjara Hills inspector M Narender told TOI. He also said that because Pranav and Sai are undergoing treatment, they were yet to get details about where in Madhapur they partied on December 31 night. Sources, however, said that the two had partied at a friend’s house. Both are now bring treated at Sunshine Hospital. While Sai underwent surgery for a fractured femur, Pranav’s condition is being monitored by a neurologist. Both are believed to be out of danger
