BENGALURU: Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai and BJP MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi met Union home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday, triggering speculation of a state cabinet expansion yet again.
Bommai and Jarkiholi held a separate meeting with BJP national general secretary Karnataka in-charge Arun Singh and state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel before meeting Shah.
Sources said Shah gave no definite assurance to the CM and Jarkiholi and asked them to wait for the party's communication on cabinet expansion. Jarkiholi and senior BJP MLA KS Eshwarappa have been putting pressure on the CM and the party brass to induct them back into the cabinet for the past few months. But no decision has been taken on the matter as yet.
With assembly elections just five months away, both the MLAs, who had to resign as ministers after their names cropped up in scandals last year, have been making desperate attempts to make it to the cabinet again.
