Mysuru: “Powered by the school tour programmes”, the world-famous Mysuru palace recorded over 5 lakh visitors in the 30 days of December, which is the highest since the Covid-19 outbreak in April 2020.
According to the data, between December 1 and 30, as many as 5,12,656 tourists visited the palace. Among them, 2,19,440 are students. 2,55,988 are adults. 2,378 are foreigners. 34,850 are children. In November 2022, 1,94,728 adults and 59,975 students visited the palace.
The previous highest post-Covid 19 was reported in October 2022 with 4,11,709 tourists visiting the palace. This included 3,34,259 adults, 1,474 foreigners, 25,878 students, and 50,098 children.
According to palace board deputy director TS Subramanya, every year, more tourists arrive during the end of the year.
“This year as December 31 is the last date for the school tours, every day, a huge number of students visit the palace. If we record 25,000 visitors, 7,000 to 8,000 visitors are students. More tourists are arriving from
Kerala also,” he said.
On Friday, 14,270 students visited the palace. According to Ramesh C, a teacher from Bengaluru rural who arrived with his students at the palace, while planning the school trip, the first demand put forth by his students was a visit to Mysuru, especially the palace and the zoo.
