Nitish Kumar and his cabinet colleagues declared their personal assets and liabilities on Saturday in line with the earlier commitments. Right since coming to power, the chief minister has made it mandatory for all ministers to disclose their assets and liabilities on the last day of every calendar year to have transparency in public life.
According to the disclosures, the value of Nitish’s property remains as it was. As per the details, the CM has only Rs28,135 cash in hand while his total immovable assets are worth Rs58.85 lakh, the same as he declared on December 31 last year. However, there was no declaration of property of his only son Nishant this year.
Deputy chief minister and RJD MLA Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, on the other hand, had a total income of Rs3,76,090 in the financial year 2021-2022, as per his declaration. Similarly, Tejashwi has approximately Rs75,000 cash in hand against his wife Rajshree’s Rs1.25 lakh. Tejashwi has purchased shares worth Rs5.38 lakh, has jewellery worth Rs9.53 lakh and immovable properties worth over Rs2.25 crores.
Tejashwi’s brother and minister for environment, forest and climate change, Tej Pratap Yadav has Rs1.07 lakh cash in hand, has invested Rs29.80 lakh in bonds/debentures/shares, a motorbike worth Rs15.45 lakh, a BMW car worth Rs29.43 lakh, jewellery worth Rs4.60 lakh and immovable assets worth Rs1.76 crores. Both Tejashwi and Tej Pratap are sons of RJD chief Lalu Prasad.
