22-yr-old held for killing wife, friend over ‘affair’

New Delhi: A 22-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife and a childhood friend at his house in Gokulpuri area. He suspected that the two were having an affair. The arrested man has been identified as Gandharv alias Sunny, a resident of Ganga Vihar in Gokulpuri.
On Friday, police received information that a woman and a man were lying on a footpath near Safdarjung Hospital in an injured condition.
“A police team that reached the spot admitted the duo in the hospital. Both of them died during treatment after which a case of murder was registered. During investigation, it was found that the woman was married to one Sunny, who lives in Gokulpuri. It was also found that Sunny and Sagar had developed enmity. Police teams further established that Sunny was giving threats to Sagar for the last one week to keep himself away from his wife,” said deputy commissioner of police (southwest) Manoj C.
Sunny was detained from the Karkardooma area.
“During interrogation, Sunny said Sagar was his childhood friend and used to live in the same locality. He claimed that Sagar had developed friendship with his wife for the last 15 days and started living with her. Sunny said he even warned Sagar 2-3 times to keep himself away from his wife, but when the latter did not follow, he stabbed the two of them,” the officer said.
Sunny was earlier married to another woman. He used to work on daily wages in different parts of Delhi-NCR. tnn
