DEHRADUN: Star cricketer Rishabh Pant, who survived a near-fatal accident, has undergone plastic surgery on his left eyebrow and is responding well, doctors said. In a setback to the Indian cricket team, agency reports said Pant is likely to miss the 4-Test series against Australia beginning February 9.
A day after Rishabh Pant had a miraculous escape surviving a near-fatal accident while driving his Mercedes GLE on the Delhi-Dehradun highway at Narsan in Haridwar district, a team of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) officials met him at Dehradun's Max Hospital on Saturday. While the hospital did not issue any statement on Saturday, DDCA director Shyam Sharma said that Pant "is in high spirits and responding well to treatment... He underwent plastic surgery on his left eyebrow where he suffered a cut in the accident."

Pant's car went up in flames moments after colliding with divider railings on the highway at about 5.22am on Friday and was reduced to a mangled heap on fire. The cricketer managed to escape after breaking the windscreen before being helped by the driver and conductor of a Haryana roadways bus which was about 50m behind Pant's car.
Sharma further said, "A team of BCCI doctors is in constant touch with the medical team of Max Hospital and BCCI secretary Jay Shah is also monitoring the situation. As of now, he won't be shifted from Dehradun. As far as the ligament injury in his right knee is concerned, he will take some time to recover. He will be provided the best possible treatment."
