GHAZIABAD: A man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly killing his friend because he was getting 'too close and personal' with a woman they had both befriended. The woman was also nabbed for being an accomplice in the crime.
The accused were identified as Khalid (22) and Janum (35), both residents of Kalchhina village of Ghaziabad. The youth who was killed was 18-year-old Rocky. The two came under the police scanner after Rocky's father lodged a missing person's complaint at Bhojpur police station on Friday.
"Krishan Pal, a resident of Kalchhina village, came to the Bhojpur police station on Friday and informed that his son, Rocky had left for the village on his motorcycle and had not returned home since then. A case was registered under Section 363 (kidnapping) of the IPC and two teams were formed to investigate the matter. We found that Rocky was last seen with his friend, Khalid," ACP (Modinagar) Sunil Kumar Singh said.
Khalid was taken into custody and he confessed to the crime. Police recovered Rocky's body from a sugarcane field and sent it for postmortem. "Khalid told cops that Rocky and he used to visit a general store run by Janum in the village, while Janum's husband was in Delhi for work. Over the past several months, Khalid and Rocky had developed feelings for Janum. A few days ago, Khalid confessed to Janum that he did not like Rocky visiting her. Both planned to eliminate him," added ACP. On December 28, Khalid called Rocky to his place at 4pm. He took Rocky to his field on the pretext of watering it. Once it was dark, Khalid took Rocky near a pond and strangulated him to death. He hid the body in the field nearby, Singh said.
The police have added sections 302 (murder), 201 (disappearance of evidence) and 120B (party to criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.
