Act against corrupt in power lobby: Marandi’s advice to CM
Ranchi: On New Year’s eve, former chief minister Babulal Marandi advised incumbent chief minister Hemant Soren to act against the people, “who are close to him” and involved in “corrupt practices” to loot the state.
Marandi also said that sooner or later, the law will catch up on him (Soren).
Marandi wrote on Twitter, “As 2022 is about to end, CM Hemant Sorenji, I want to give you some informal advice today. Everybody is aware that when you were a student, you weren’t interested in studies. Your sole ambition was to earn money. By virtue of your family legacy, you accidentally came to power. “
He also said, “But now, you must take out some time to introspect and look into the history, read and understand.”
He added, “Hemantji, you have surrendered everything before people who are corrupt, and opportunists. But mind you, when the fodder scam occurred, former CM Lalu Prasad didn’t personally go to withdraw money illegally from state treasuries. He used to behave like you and turned a blind eye towards the loot under his watch for personal gains. In return, he used to save the corrupt surrounding him. When the scam broke, he (Lalu) too was held guilty along with scores of others.”
“You are also doing the same, beware. Your government is sitting on the file recommending a case under the Prevention of Xorruption Act (PC Act) against your former mines secretary Pooja Singhal, currently in jail after arrest by ED. Similarly, your political aide, Pankaj Mishra, is also in jail in a money laundering scam receiving political patronage to threaten witnesses from jail. So is the case of your other dear ones like power brokers Prem Prakash. Dear Hemantji, do you think you can escape the course of law after such sins? You may get some temporary breather but the law will take its course one day. So, it’s time to mend ways before it’s too late and act against your near and dear ones, who looted the state.”
Soren’s party, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), on the other hand took a dig at Marandi and mocked him for his statement.
The party’s central general secretary, Supriyo Bhattacharya, said, “We don’t give much credence and value to his statements as he is struggling to stay relevant. Moreover, by that logic, Marandiji too was closer to us till 2019. So, we think action must be taken against him as well by exposing his sins.”
