‘Foundation stone for Mahadayi project soon after forest dept nod’
Hubballi: Dharwad MP and Union minister for parliamentary affairs Pralhad Joshi on Saturday said that the foundation stone for the highly-anticipated Mahadayi project would be laid in under two months of the Karnataka forest department greenlighting the initiative. The Dharwad MP said that the central government had already given its nod to the revised detailed project report (DPR) for the project. “Since it is a project aimed at supplying drinking water to the people, there is no need for us to obtain clearanace from the environment department. We need the forest department’s nod for the acquisition of 60 acres,” said Joshi, refusing to respond to statements made by representatives of Goa government.
On former minister and senior Congress leader HK Patil’s allegation of the Centre’s approval having no specific datestamp, Joshi said that the Congress leader’s political innings was nearing an end. “The DPR was approved on December 29,” he said.
