NAGPUR: Security was beefed up at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur after an unidentified caller on Saturday threatened to blow it up with a bomb. Senior police officers reviewed security of the premises in Mahal, bomb disposal and dog squads were deployed, but it turned out to be a hoax call as nothing suspicious was found after a thorough search.
According to sources, a man rang up a special number of the police control room around 1pm Saturday with the threat and disconnected immediately, setting off the question how he got hold of the classified number that has never been made public.
Police cybercrime experts are trying to identify the caller, while additional police personnel were deployed on the route leading to the Sangh HQ, which is protected by CISF. People on the route were checked and interrogated, sources said.
"Patrolling has been intensified. We are tracing the phone number," said a senior cop with Nagpur city police. Commissioner of police Amitesh Kumar was not available for comments. "The RSS HQ is guarded by the CISF, while Nagpur city police personnel manage security of its outer circle," an officer said.
