Woman on way to file plaint crushed to death by car
Kanpur: A woman, who was going to file a complaint against the other party after a fight over a monetary dispute, was crushed to death by a car. The shocking incident took place in Sijanoda village in Maudaha Kotwali area of Hamirpur district late Friday night.
According to the police, the two groups had a heated argument on Friday night over some monetary issue. After the dispute, the woman, identified as Jai Devi Verma, belonging to one of the groups, was going to the police station to file a complaint when Raja Singh, Shyam Pal, Ram Babu and Bardani of the rival group, who were in a car, rammed the vehicle into the bike on which Jai Devi Verma, along with her relatives Sujit Kumar Vishwakarma and Rajendra Prajapati, were riding.
The trio suffered critical wounds and were brought to the Maudaha Community Health Centre where Jai Devi succumbed during treatment while Sujit Kumar and Sonu were admitted to the district hospital from where the two were referred to Kanpur.
Circle Officer, Maudaha, Vivek Yadav said on the basis of Santosh’s complaint, four people have been arrested. “Their interrogation is underway,” the CO further said.
The deceased’s sister Sadhana and mother Meera said the village’s influential persons--Raja Singh, Shyam Pal, Ram Babu and Bardani--came to their house and beat them up brutally. “When her sister Jai Devi along with their two relatives left the house for the police station to lodge a complaint in this regard, the rival side rammed a car into the two-wheeler on which they were riding. While her sister died, their relatives Sonu and Sumit were injured in the incident,” she said.
Inspector Maudaha Kotwali Hemant Mishra said an FIR has been registered against four people including Raja Singh, Shyam Pal, Ram Babu and Bardani under sections 302, 307 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code on the basis of the complaint.
“The family members said that Jai Devi had gone to the shop of one Shyam Pal to purchase goods. There was a dispute between the two sides over a monetary issue. At that time, the matter was sorted out with the intervention of the locals but later, Shyam Pal along with influentials persons of the village including Raja Singh, Ram Babu and Bardani reached their house and assaulted them severely,” he said
