Deep in debt, upa sarpanch dies by suicide
BHUPALAPALLY: A BRS-affiliated upa sarpanch died by suicide after he failed to clear debts he had accrued for construction of 'Rythu Vedika' and other developmental works in his village, Chidinepally village in JS Bhupalapally district, on Saturday.
According to the villagers, upa sarpanch Balineni Tirupati, 35, consumed pesticide at his residence. The neighbours and villagers rushed him to hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Tirupati had borrowed 15 lakh from private financiers to undertake developmental works, including construction of 'Rythu Vedika', in the village.
However, even after six months, the state government had not approved and sanctioned his bills.
Tirupati's wife also died by suicide about six months ago, allegedly due to pressure from money lenders. Soon after his wife's death, Tirupati got addicted to alcohol. Depressed over his debts, Tirupati took the extreme step.
Sarpanch, Antargam Rajamourli, requested the state government to take care of Tirupati's two daughters.
