MUMBAI: A 29-year-old man was murdered by his acquaintance at Andheri West over a dispute on Friday. DN Nagar police have arrested the accused, Salman Shaikh.
Sanjay Kamble, the deceased, was a labourer and lived at Gilbert Hill on rent. He had told his younger brother, Krishna, about five days ago about getting into a dispute with Shaikh. At that time, Shaikh had threatened to kill him.
Krishna advised Sanjay to lodge a police complaint against Shaikh but Sanjay ignored the advice. On Friday, a friend called up Krishna and told him that his brother was lying near a public toilet and was severely injured. Krishna rushed to the spot and found Sanjay in a pool of blood. He dialled his relatives and the police who took Sanjay to the Cooper Hospital. He was pronounced dead on admission.
Later a local resident, Timappa Dhangar, told Krishna that Sanjay and Shaikh had a loud fight near a nullah close to the public toilet around 2am. Subsequently, Shaikh picked up a cement paver block and hit Sanjay on his head, causing him to lose consciousness and collapse. Based on Krishna's complaint, DN Nagar police arrested Shaikh under section 302 of IPC for murder.
