CHANDIGARH: Within hours after registration of a criminal case at a police station in Chandigarh on Sunday, olympian-turned-politician Sandeep Singh surrendered charge as Haryana sports minister.
"An environment has been created to tarnish my image and a junior coach of sports department had levelled the false allegations. Investigations are in progress. Hence, on moral grounds, I handover my sports department to honourable chief minister. I want an impartial probe so that actual things should come out," said Sandeep Singh in a tweet.
Notably, cause of action started from Thursday when the junior woman coach had levelled the allegations of sexual harassment on Sandeep Singh.
On Friday, the victim had moved the complaint to UT police.
While UT Police had forwarded the complaint to concerned police station, in a related development, Haryana DGP had ordered the fact finding probe by team headed by AdGP Mamta Singh.
