MYSURU: Mysuru City police have successfully completed the year 2022 by detecting 320 criminal cases counting 61 chain snatching, 132 vehicle lifting, 33 house break-ins and 5 thefts by domestic help. A total of stolen properties worth about Rs 3.6 crore were recovered from the accused. According to police, 346 suspects were arrested during the year.
Police Commissioner Ramesh Banoth, briefing the achievements of the city police, said in various property offenses during the year, about 753 cases were registered, of which 320 were solved. Over 4 kilos of gold valuables, 16 kilos of silver items, and cash of Rs 20 lakh were recovered. The commissioner also returned recovered stolen properties to their rightful owners.
Online fraud: Rs 1 crore returnedMany who had lost cash to online fraudsters received their money back. Cops this year blocked and helped many to get back their lost money to the tune of over Rs 1 crore. It has been appealed to the public to notify the police or lodge complaints on 1930 or call 100 if any money has been lost to online fraud.
33 narcotics cases bookedAbout 91 kilos of ganja, 58 grams of MDMA, 283 grams of charas, 3 grams of ecstasy, and 50 mg of LSD were seized by the city police during the year. About 33 cases under the Narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances act were booked in 2022 and 61 accused persons were arrested.
Rowdy elements Ahead of the election, city police are keeping a close eye on rowdy elements and recently conducted a surprise check on their houses. An order of externment was issued against two rowdies as they had continued to take part in unlawful activities.
