THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM state secretariat meeting decided not to go for any probe into the allegations against its senior leader E P Jayarajan. Jayarajan, who attended the meeting, gave an explanation before the party on the allegations. It is learnt that based on his explanation the party has decided not to conduct a probe for the time being.
Jayarajan is learnt to have said that he had no direct links with the controversial resort. His wife and son are holding shares and his family is not owning the resort. He also made it clear that the investments made by his wife and son are not illegal.
After the state secretariat meeting none of the party leaders were ready to officially comment on the decision taken at the meeting. E P Jayarajan too did not comment on the issues. Instead, he conveyed New Year greetings to all the media personnel assembled before the AKG Centre.
Jayarajan had taken leave from the LDF convener post in the first week of October and ever since he has not been attending any official functions of the party. He had cited ill-health as the reason, and he had claimed that he was undergoing Ayurveda treatment.
P Jayarajan had earlier alleged in the CPM state committee meeting that the LDF convener and his family owned an Ayurvedic resort in his hometown in Kannur and E P Jayarajan had amassed wealth illegally.
When the allegation was raised at the meeting, CPM state secretary M V Govindan told P Jayarajan to give the complaint in writing so that the party can go for a probe. Govindan said it was not possible for the party to go ahead without the rectification process and by having serious discussions on it. "The media is creating news out of such discussions occuring in the party and they themselves are judging things. The party is not bothered to answer to such interpretations made by the media," he said, while responding to the queries involving E P Jayarajan.
