Youth from across the state came together to commemorate the
World Aids Day earlier this month, to honour the lives lost to AIDS and to join hands with people living with the virus. The event organsied on the sidelines of the World Aids Day, a Goa-based NGO, Human Touch Foundation, organized the 3rd edition of Goa Red Ribbon Fest (GRRF) at the Jardim Garcia de Orta, Panjim, in partnership with YouthLEAD, and support of UNAIDS India, Corporation of City of Panaji, among other corporate establishments and individual donors.
The public fest saw at least 1000 people in attendance, engaging school students, young people, general public, organizations and various departments of the government to create awareness on issues related to HIV/AIDS. The event saw young people sharing their opinions, thoughts and suggestions in tune with the theme “equalize” through their participation in activities, competitions, interactive sessions, games and other creatives on offline and digital platforms.
At sundown, people present at the venue got together for a candlelight memorial service, to light the red ribbon as a sign of reverence to those who lost their lives to the virus.
