HYDERABAD: To accomplish Mission-90 and storm to power in the 2023 Telangana elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the state in February to fortify the party's grassroots with a discernible outreach towards booth-rung leaders, who form the fulcrum of BJP's winning strategy anywhere in the country. The PM is likely to meet and interact with more than 32,000 booth-rung committee leaders, whose appointments will be completed by January 7.
BJP state president Bandi Sanjay said, the party unit will be sending a request and based on his schedule, he will visit the state to meet grassroots workers. "Booth committees are important. We are confident of achieving our target of 90 and the 'vistarak' meet discussed various programmes to wean away voters to the saffron fold," he said. The party also plans to zero in on 40 seats, where the party has a weak network and insufficient support base. The state leadership will dispatch periodic reports to the high command on the ground situation.
Sanjay along with other state and district leaders took part in crucial discussions held on city outskirts, where the two-day 'vistarak' meeting is being held. Party national organization secretary BL Santhosh also interacted with party leaders and directed them to focus on booth-level functioning and implementing and educating people on Narendra Modi's government's flagship programmes and schemes.
The Karimnagar MP has been specifically entrusted with the responsibility of ramping up booth-level support and beginning January, he will interact with booth leaders of two to three assembly segments every day across all districts.
On BJP's chances of winning the assembly elections, Bandi Sanjay stated claims of the party's inability to even put up strong candidates in many areas were false. "My padayatra negotiated 56 assembly segments till now and I found a surge of support with many requesting a chance to run. Talking about our key rival, most leaders are not ready to contest in the name of BRS," he said.
