Hubballi: The government's school adoption programme is receiving a good response in Dharwad district, as the officers of various departments in the district have adopted 212 primary and higher primary schools.
The deputy commissioner, CEO, deputy conservator of forests, district surgeon, and other officials have adopted the schools. District and taluk officials of other government departments, including the school education department, adopt schools within their scope of work. Officials will visit the schools on the first Thursday of every month. Also interact with students, paying attention to their grievances about the school.
A source said adoption of Government Schools Program was implemented in August 2022 with the aim of adopting the schools and simultaneously developing schools by the education department and the officials of various departments.
DC Gurudatt Hegde adopted Government High School, Kalakeri, chief executive officer, Suresh Itnal adopted Government School, Pudalakatti, additional DC Shivanand Bhajantri adopted Government School, Sattur, and others department officer have adopted various schools 212 government schools in the districts said Rashtriya Mashyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, deputy project coordinator and nodal officer S M Hudedamani said.
He said officials visit the school once or twice in a month to review the academic progress, give advice, guidance and also interact with students. The education department, government, donors and local people have been paying attention to the grievances of the school and have been providing various facilities related to education.
DDPI Shankmuk Swamy Kaladimath said the programme will be extended to other parts of the district by holding a meeting with the officials under the guidance of the DC. Some officials have submitted visit reports, he said. ZP CEO Suresh Itnal said, “We have made department officers adopt the school to know problems. Officials are visiting schools for further development. More government schools will be adopted.”
