Kanpur: A 25-year-old worker who was working in an under-construction hotel near Dhami Kheda in Rawatpur area of the city died of accidental firing from the pistol of a security guard-cum-gunner on Thursday. A case has been lodged in this connection.
According to reports, a private gunner of the hotel, from whose gun, the shot was ‘accidentally’ fired, escaped the spot. Locals informed about the incident to the police. ACP Kalyanpur along with Rawatpur police reached the spot to investigate the incident. One Guddu Singh’s hotel is being built near Dhami Kheda in Rawatpur police station area. On Thursday, painting-related work was underway in the hotel. Ravi (25), a resident of Behta Gokul, Dularpur post, Manpur police station, Hardoi, was working in the hotel. During this, Ravi sustained bullet wounds following firing by the security guard-cum gunner of the hotel owner, Sandeep Singh. Ravi was rushed to Lala Lajpat Rai hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
ACP Kalyanpur Vikas Pandey said that the family members of the deceased painter Ravi, resident of Hardoi, have been informed about the matter. “They will reach Kanpur by late night. Postmortem will be done on Friday. Along with this, further action will be taken by registering an FIR in the matter on the basis of a complaint by the kin of the deceased,” said ACP further. tnn
