Panaji: Taking the government to task over the Mhadei issue, opposition leader Yuri Alemao on Friday
told reporters that all 40 MLAs, starting with chief minister Pramod Sawant, must resign en masse to show the Centre that Goans are united.
“Mr CM, be prepared to resign if you are serious about what you have said in the past. On several occasions, you said we will fight to the hilt for every drop of the Mhadei,” Alemao said, and sought to know if Sawant was prepared to make the big sacrifice in the interest of Goa and Goans.
He said that in March, Sawant had stated that the interim order of the Supreme Court continues to be in operation, and that no work could be taken up by Karnataka to implement the tribunal’s award without permissions from the Centre and having the DPR approved.
“But at present, Karnataka has an upper hand. Besides an environmental clearance, the DPR has been approved. We need to quickly get clarity on this, as it will help the state fight this battle systematically,” he said.
