Rajkot: Six cattle rearers were booked in Bhavnagar for releasing their animals on the road.
The veterinary officer of Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) registered six separate police complaints against the breeders for violating the public notification, by releasing their animals on the road, posing a risk to people’s lives.
Veterinary officer MM Hirpara registered a complaint against Harilal Rathod, Munnabhai Bar, Devraj Babariya, Kalu Parmar, Raju Satiya, and Gudha Mer with Bharatnagar police station on Tuesday night under IPC sections 188, 283, and 289.
A notification by the municipal commissioner was issued on December 22 asking all the cow breeders to seek permission to keep their animals inside the city limit and prohibiting the release of animals on public roads and public places. BMC has already tagged the animals inside the city.
During his routine visit, municipal commissioner NV Upadhyay found several cows straying on the road in Bharatnagar area and asked his PA to capture the information of the tagged animal and send it to the veterinary officer for action.
The FIRs were lodged against the owners of these cows with contact details, addresses, and pictures.
