AHMEDABAD: PM
Narendra Modi on Wednesday met his mother Heeraba who was admitted to an Ahmedabad-based hospital following health complications early on Wednesday.
Modi arrived from Delhi at 2.45 pm and went straight to the hospital to see his ailing mother. After spending about one-and-a-half hours at the hospital with Heeraba and the attending team of doctors, the PM returned to the state capital. Hospital authorities in an official note at 8 pm said that Heeraba's condition is stable.

National leaders prayed for her speedy recovery in social media posts.
According to sources, Hiraba, who completed 99 years in June this year, was brought to the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology & Research Centre (UNMICRC) for check-up after health complications. Upon doctors' advice, she was admitted for further treatment. The hospital authorities did not divulge the nature of complications.
Prime Minister's mother is admitted to U N Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre, Ahmedabad, and her condition is stable" said the hospital in a statement.
"She has been admitted to the hospital for a check-up. Her condition is normal. PM Modi's elder brother Somabhai is also present in the hospital,"
BJP MLA from Dariapur Kaushik Jain told media outside the hospital. BJP MP Jugalji Thakor said that Heeraba's condition is stable and she might be discharged in a day or two.
PM Modi was accompanied by Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, BJP state president C R Paatil, several ministers and MLAs during his visit to the hospital. Entry was restricted in the hospital as authorities allowed only patients and staff members between 2 pm and 6 pm for security reasons.
The PM is close to his mother and earlier this year had penned an emotional blogpost when Heeraba entered her 100th year wherein he said his mother was a simple yet extraordinary woman, like all mothers. Modi tries to meet Heeraba whenever possible on his visit to Gujarat and seeks her blessings on occasions such as his birthdays or the start of election campaigns. He had recently visited Heeraba post the state polls wherein BJP posted a historic victory at her Raysan residence where she lives with Modi's younger brother Pankaj Modi.
Special prayers were organized at multiple temples in the state for Heeraba's well being including one at Hatkeshwar temple in Modi's native Vadnagar.
Prayers also poured in from across the political spectrum - Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "The love between a mother and a son is eternal and priceless. Modi ji, my love and support is with you in this difficult time. I hope your mother gets well soon." Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra also tweeted, wishing for her quick recovery.
